Kenyan Muslims ask the government to reopen 2007/2008 Election Violence report
President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga gave the International Criminal Court (ICC) a report that it will help send the organizers of the 2007/2008 Post Election Violence to prison. Muslim leaders in Kenya last Friday asked President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga to open that report.
Only 4 people are now in court because of the 2007/2008 Post Election Violence. The Muslim leaders told journalists in Nairobi that it was not right. There were 27 other people in the report and they should also be sent to court.
“It was a mistake that only 4 people were picked from 27 in the report, that is not fair, we want to see justice for all victims,” said Sheik Juma Ngao, Chairman of Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council.
Sheik Ngao added that reopening the report will be an act of “respect to the Kenyan constitution,” and that if they don't open the report, the government will be favoring one group of Kenyan people, but not the other.
The sheik has also told the United Kingdom (UK) Foreign Secretary Richard Hague to ‘stop getting involved in Kenyan problems and respect the Kenyan president.’
He said this to the UK because the UK thinks President Kibaki is also guilty of the 2007/2008 Post Election Violence. And, the UK wants to send them to the ICC, too.
The ICC, in 2011, said that the former Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura, journalist Joshua Sang, William Ruto, Henry Kosgei, former police general Hussein Ali have the biggest responsibility in the 2007/2008 post election violence in Kenya.
